Glenn Kappelman: A Life of Service traces the extraordinary life of Glenn Kappelman. A WWII veteran known for the images he captured using an illicit camera during the war, Kappelman took a prominent role in Lawrence’s growth during the latter half of the 20th century. This exhibit will explore his legacy in civil service, including: his work to aid the city’s Fair Housing ordinance, his support of social services such as the Women’s Transitional Care Facility (today known as the Willow Domestic Violence Center), and his work with the Douglas County Historical Society as the city celebrated its centennial.
