In 2019, Watkins Museum partnered with a local historian, scientists at the University of Kansas, and a KU engineering class to dive more deeply into what we know about the cannon, nicknamed “Old Sacramento,” through material testing. Armed with Knowledge: The Scientific Testing of Old Sacramento presents the findings from the 2019 project to explore historical and new information about one of the museum’s more recognizable artifacts.
