Homeschool History: 19th Century Schooling
5/26 @ 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Looking for a fun event for your homeschool child? The Watkins Museum shares Lawrence history with homeschool students ages 5-12 every month throughout the school year. Each lesson studies a topic based on Lawrence and/or Douglas County History while spending time in the galleries and using artifacts to learn about past citizens and events. Lessons will also use hands-on activities, arts, and crafts. This activity may be attended by the student’s adult or can be a drop off program. There is no cost for these activities but donations are appreciated.
This month’s lesson will explore schooling in Douglas County during throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. Students will learn about Lawrence resident Maggie Herrington, use chalk and slate boards to complete lessons, and much more!
Registration is required. To register please contact the museum’s Education Coordinator Cherrie Preut at [email protected].
