Curator’s Challenge: Quantrill’s Raid & the Watkins Mystery Flag

Here is your chance to experience Quantrill’s Raid in art, view a rarely seen artifact, and think like a museum curator! Get your tickets here or pay at the door.
Art historian and Watkins Director Steve Nowak will provide a behind-the-scenes look at Art of Tragedy: Depictions of Quantrill’s Raid. Additionally, you’ll be able to view and help unravel the mystery surrounding a Confederate First National Flag in the Watkins collections that was supposedly carried by Quantrill’s raiders. Guided by Watkins historian Will Haynes, participants can explore the controversial history of Confederate flags and weigh in on the believability of the stories surrounding the Watkins flag.
Art of Tragedy is sponsored, in part, by Jeff and Mary Weinberg. Food and drink will be provided by Maceli’s and Free State Brewing Co. and19th-century music will be performed by Steve Mason. This event is part of Civil War on the Border.
