Oak Hill Cemetery selected for 48StateTour

Oak Hill Cemetery has been selected as this year’s Kansas stop on Atlas Preservation’s 48StateTour, a nationwide gravestone preservation workshop series.

The workshop presenter is Jonathan Appell, founder and CEO of Atlas Preservation, the country’s leading provider of monument restoration products and training. The 48StateTour is the philanthropic arm of Atlas Preservation, who created the series in 2020 in response to the increasing need across the country “to save our collective history carved in stone” and to the growing interest in preserving local cemeteries.

The Lawrence event will take place Tuesday, July 23, from 9 AM-3 PM, in Old Section 5 at Oak Hill Cemetery. The event is free and open to the public; no registration is required. Participants will gain hands-on lessons in preserving historic cemeteries and stones.
