Senator Preston B. Plumb is little known today, but in his lifetime he smuggled guns for the Free State movement, pursued Quantrill’s raiders, and served Kansas in the U.S. Congress. We hosted author Johanna D. Wickman for a presentation about her book, The Forgotten Senator: The Life and Character of Preston B. Plumb. The book tells the exciting story of the Kansas senator’s life through stories of those who knew him, his own words in letters and articles, and many unpublished photographs.
