The Lawrence Municipal Pool
This week Joel and Natalie are joined by Maggie Brown-Peoples, the Hall Center for the Humanities Summer Fellow at the Watkins Museum. Maggie explains the community’s response to the segregated pool called the Jayhawk Plunge in the late 1960s and why building the Lawrence Municipal Pool created a place that all Lawrence residents could enjoy. Learn more about the pool in Maggie’s Museum Minute.
Time Capsule with KLWN’s Joel Becker and the Watkins Museum’s Natalie Vondrak explores the history of Lawrence or Douglas County and shares the stories of the people and events that have helped shape our community. The show airs the first Tuesday of the month during Radio for Grownups around 10:10 AM on FM 101.7 or AM 1320 KLWN.
