The Lawrence Windmill
Learn about Lawrence’s most prominent landmark at the turn of the 20th century, a 64 feet tall Dutch Windmill. Built in 1864, the windmill served the community by processing wheat and corn, as well as powering a farm equipment manufacturing company. Learn more about how it became Lawrence’s most beloved landmark in this episode of Time Capsule.
Time Capsule with KLWN’s Joel Becker and the Watkins Museum’s Natalie Vondrak explores the history of Lawrence or Douglas County and shares the stories of the people and events that have helped shape our community. The show airs the first Tuesday of the month during Radio for Grownups around 10:10 AM on FM 101.7 or AM 1320 KLWN.
